If I am a twin, do I have an increased chance of having twins?

A twin from monozygotic twinning (identical twins) does not usually have an increased chance of having twins.

To note that recently, there is some evidence that monozygotic twinning may

run in families but it is very rare.

Dizygotic twinning (non-identical twins) is inheritable and changes throughout times, situation, and races.

African women have an increased rate of natural dizygotic twinning.

Asian women have lower rates of dizygotic twinning.

Dizygotic twinning appears to be mostly inherited through matrilineal lines.

If you are a woman issued from a dizygotic twinning, you have a chance of having

twins of one over 60 births.

Non-identical male twins, father twins at a rate of one set per 125 births.1,2

In conclusion, non-identical female twins have a real increased chance to birth twins compared to the general population.
