Does prebiotics in toddlers’ milk help?

Prebiotics are fermentable dietary fibers that provide health benefits through their effects on the gut flora composition and activity.1

Introducing a variety of dietary fiber sources to young children helps establish a more diverse intestinal microbiota. Prebiotics contribute to a healthier intestinal microbiome by increasing Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli, and by inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacterial populations. Prebiotics influence immune system maturation and improve immunity by enhancing intestinal barrier function.1

Based on the above benefits, offering food and toddlers milk containing prebiotics is recommended.
