Playrooms are spaces designed to offer the child a place where he/she can develop skills such as their fine and gross motor skills, it’s also a place that promotes engagement rather than just entertainments. (1)
A playroom must be safe to begin with, simple, clean with a limited number of carefully selected age-appropriate toys:
- Selected activities
- Everything displayed nicely at the child’s level
- Include some open space for movement
- Use toys that promote engagement over entertainment
- Have a set place for items to create order/routine
- Mix in variety of activities
- Cozy place that your child will enjoy (2)
