What is a viral infection in toddlers and how long does it last?

An infection produced by viruses in the body is called a viral infection. There are thousands of different viruses that can cause a wide range of infectious diseases and health conditions.1

Viruses attack the healthy cells leading them not to perform their usual function. The virus then moves on to other cells, infecting or destroying them the same way. This is what let the child feel sick.1

The treatment for a child’s viral infection usually involves the management of the symptoms of viral infection. On the other hand, the best treatment for a viral infection is adequate rest, intake of sufficient fluids, and allowing the infection to run its natural course.2

A viral infection in a kid can take between three days to seven days to clear, although in some cases it can last for a couple of weeks, but in general, recovery is within a few days.2
