Do ORL specialist doctors treat thyroid?

An ENT (otorhinolaryngologist) specialist can treat some thyroid conditions, thus, we need to know first the 4 different thyroid disorders that require treatment.

  1. Hypothyroidism: lack of thyroid hormone may be caused by a gland that isn’t working or it is missing
  2. Hyperthyroidism: too much of the thyroid hormones 
  3. Thyroiditis: it is the inflammation of the thyroid gland caused by infection 
  4. Thyroid nodules: abnormal growth within the thyroid that can vary from small to large nodules, benign or malign 1

The treatment of the thyroid conditions is based on the type of the disorder. Usually, thyroid nodules fall under the expertise of ENT specialists.1,2
