I am facing difficulties waking my kid up for school: what should I do?

First make sure your child is getting enough hours of sleep: Children 1 to 2 years of age should sleep 11 to 14 hours per 24 hours (including naps) and children 3 to 5 years of age should sleep 10 to 13 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis. 1

If your child has got enough sleep, here are some tips to help your kids wake up to school:

  1. Put them in a room with natural light: Our bodies are tuned to wake up with natural sunlight. Make sure to have a window in the room, it helps kids wake up in the morning.
  2. Give them an alarm clock and teach them how to use it: It will probably take several lessons before they get it.
  3. Sing to them their favorite songs
  4. Consider bringing a pet in to wake them up.
  5. Put up a simple, 3- to 5- step morning checklist routine for them to follow.
  6. Bake something that smells delicious: Waffles and pancakes are a great idea2
