How to treat UTI?

UTIs are treated with antibiotics prescribed by the doctor. A few days later, after your healthcare provider has the urine culture results, the antibiotic might be changed to one that works better against the type of bacteria that was found in your child's urine. You can also help your child fight the infection by encouraging him or her to drink plenty of fluids and urinate often.

The antibiotic drug is usually administered orally (tablets or syrup). If your child is very sick or not able to drink, the antibiotic may need to be given directly in the vein with your child in the hospital.

The whole course of antibiotic must be completed, you shouldn’t stop giving it to your kid even if you feel he is better. A good hygiene will help prevent UTI.
