It is not that easy, however, here are some signs:
- Portion size: If the amount of food in his/her plate is almost the same as yours
- Leftovers: Don’t push or punish your child for not eating everything. It is recommended to start with less food then add more if requested
- Over juicing: Between or before meals
- Clothes: if his clothes become tight in the chest and waist more than once a year. They should grow taller not wider.1
- It is important to differentiate between high appetite and eating disorder. A kid who eats unusually large amounts of food and feels guilty or secretive about it — could be struggling with a common eating disorder called binge eating disorder. Better to seek medical advice on this case. 2
