Tips to guarantee the 5 portions of vegetables and fruits per day?

Below are some tips to help your child get the 5-a-day habit of fruits and vegetables:

  1. Offer a serving or two of fruit during breakfast every single day. You can give 2 different kinds of fruits for variety. Do the same with vegetables at lunch or dinner.
  2. Let the fruit or vegetable snack give him/her the extra energy, so combine it with a serving of protein for example like cheese, yogurt
  3. Double the size of the fruit and vegetable servings, one cup instead of half a cup
  4. Use fruit and vegetables as ingredients in baking, like zucchini bread or banana oats cookies Applesauce can be used instead of oil in baking
  5. Kids like variety so try a new fruit or vegetable each week or some new recipes each week.Let this be your weekly goal
