What are the “Do’s’’ and “Don’ts” of protecting your child from burns at home?
  1. Explain to your child the dangers of playing with fire.
  2. Do not allow children to light up fireworks without adult supervision, and do not keep matches or lighters within their reach.
  3. Do not allow children to play next to a cooking device while functioning.
  4. Do not place table sheets on the dining table if your little one is sitting alone, as he may accidentally pull it, and might drop everything on him/her. For more safety, place hot pads in the middle of the table, instead of table covers.
  5. Do not keep hot plates on the edge of the table or cooking devices with handles projected outside of the table or near the floor.
  6. Keep all hot liquids away from children’s reach.
  7. Do not leave the ironing machine unattended, and do not leave the wire hanging as the child might accidentally pull it and it might fall on him/her.
  8. Do not pour hot water in the bathtub and leave your child unattended, even if it’s only for a minute, as he might think that it’s ready for bath which may cause fatal burns. Fill the bathtub with cold water first, then add hot water. 1,2,3
