What is the prevalence of home accidents?

Children’s’ accidents at home have a high prevalence in Lebanon and need a coherent and global prevention program.

Children’s accidents at home represent 40% to 60% of the total of children’s accidents. It mainly affects boys (3M/1F).

The most frequent accidents are falls (20%), followed by burns (14%), choking (10%), intoxications (8%) and electrocutions (8%).

Accidents can’t be prevented, however appropriate preventions reduce the rate of their occurrence and reduce their severity, especially when it comes to grave accidents1.
