Is my child at risk of developing rhinitis? What are the signs?

The most common type of allergy is Allergic rhinitis which is also called Hay Fever. Children with asthma are at a higher risk for rhinitis. Rhinitis is a response that occurs in the eyes, nose, and throat when allergens noticeable all around trigger the arrival of histamine in the body.

Common causes may be:

  1. Pollen from trees, grass, or weeds
  2. Dust mites
  3. Mold
  4. Cockroach waste
  5. Animal dander
  6. Tobacco smoke

Symptoms may include:

  1. Sneezing
  2. Stuffy nose
  3. Runny nose
  4. Itchy nose, throat, eyes, and ears
  5. Nosebleeds
  6. No fever

Children suffering from continuous allergic rhinitis all over the year may also have these symptoms:

  1. Ear infections that keep coming back
  2. Snoring
  3. Breathing through the mouth
  4. Poor performance in school 1
